ENGLISH SERMON AND PRAYER FROM 06.09.19 ON
Almost every Friday, Muslims from all over the world visit us for Friday prayers because they are passionate about our inclusive approach and want to experience prayer in that special, uniquely spiritual atmosphere.
At the same time it is a pity for them that they often can not understand the German sermon (Khutba).
For the Friday prayer at 2:00 pm we will continue to keep German the language of the service.
Because as a community we have deliberately and unequivocally decided to have a good basis for all parishioners and to be transparent towards the German public.
Each and every one (no matter what religion or belief) is welcome to come to our prayers on Fridays, listen to the sermon and participate in the ensuing discussion on the theme of the sermon.
At the same time, we want international guests to feel comfortable with us and to have the experience of an inclusive Muslim worship. Therefore, we have decided to offer an English service once every month (on the 1st Friday). This is led by our Imamin Susanne Dawi.

YOGA IN THE IBN RUSHD-GOETHE MOSQUE
Far away from competitive thoughts and performance, we meet every 1st and 2rd Sunday of the month to listen to our bodies and to give ourselves what we often do not come to during the week: ease, acceptance and introspection. The 60 minute yoga class is suitable for everyone.
Our yoga teacher Lea finished her yoga teacher training in March 2017 in Kerala, South India. There she was privileged to be taught by Indian teachers who devote their entire lives to yoga and its philosophy. Since then she has taught in various studios and facilities in Würzburg, Berlin and Cairo and has always been committed to making yoga accessible to everyone – not just to preach unity, but to work for it.
If possible, please bring a yoga mat. We ask for a donation of 5 €.

BRUNCH IN THE IBN RUSHD-GOETHE MOSQUE (EVERY 1.+2. SUNDAY OF THE MONTH)
It has now become a cherished tradition: we cordially invite you to a joint brunch in the Ibn Rushd-Goethe Mosque. Everyone brings something with them, then the table is amply covered. We are happy to provide the bread.

A BALLOON FOR ALLAH – FILM PRESENTATION WITH NEFISE ÖZKAL LORENTZEN

When the Norwegian-Turkish filmmaker Nefise Özkal Lorentzen was a child, she sent letters to Allah with the balloon. Now she wants to send a new balloon to change the role of women in Muslim culture. Following her grandmother’s path as a “Sufi,” she embarks on a journey to rediscover Islam of her mother’s mother. The film changes between their actual journey and their dreams. She experiences the diversity of Cairo, Istanbul and Oslo by drinking tea with the Egyptian feminist Nawal El Saadawi, finding hope and inspiration in the life of 90-year-old author Gamal al-Banna and meeting a young Salafist. On her journey through the maze, Nefise dawns that Islam is not the only place where you can look, but that there are correlations between the three Abrahamic religions and the oppression of women.
The film is in English with German subtitles.
